A $12-million investment

Garaga Inc, a company specialized in the manufacturing of garage doors in St-Georges, announces an investment of 12 million dollars for the construction of an ultramodern factory. This new 128 500 ft. sq. plant is currently under construction on 900 000 ft. sq. of land in the St-Georges Technological Park.

"It's to meet our need for constant growth that Garaga undertakes this investment. In spite of our two factories, one in Saint-Georges (84 600 ft. sq.) and the other in Barrie, Ontario (43 400 ft. sq.), we have reached our maximum production capacity. We have to move to more functional facilities to answer the demand and also to plan for the years to come", indicated Mr. Michel Gendreau, president of Garaga.

The current plant will be for sale or rent so that all St-Georges employees can be under the same roof. The factory in Barrie will remain in operation to serve Ontario, Western Canada and a part of the U.S. market.

This investment will allow the addition of a new production line and will offer more space for the production of hardware. This addition will increase the annual production capacity of the 2 factories to approximately 75 million dollars in sectional garage doors. It should be mentioned that Garaga is a major manufacturer of insulated garage doors in Canada. Its market is mainly Canadian, but it also extends to the United States, Europe and the Middle East.

As mentioned by Mr Gendreau: "It is a major project for a company which has existed for only 17 years. Garaga built its reputation because of the quality of its products, but also because of the force of our distribution network. These specialists, called "Garaga Experts", are trained in sales, installation and repair of Garaga garage doors. Our employees are also responsible for this success through their strong dedication and pride to be part of a company that grows year after year."

Garaga employs 133 people in its two factories. This relocation plan involves the recruiting of 50 new people during the year 2001 and 2002. The new factory is scheduled to be operational as of Spring 2001.
