We are currently seeking a Buyer for our growing manufacturing facility in Barrie, ON — a 100% on-site role that's central to our production success. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you'll manage purchasing and inventory while coordinating with vendors and the warehouse team. This is a dynamic, collaborative environment where your hands-on approach, can-do attitude, and problem-solving skills will make a real difference every day.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Starting date: As soon as possible
  • Number of positions to fill: 1
  • Salary: $57,000
  • Remote/On-site: 100% on-site
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 7 AM to 4:30 PM. Friday, 7 AM to 11 AM (or until the required work is finished)

Role and responsibilities of the Buyer:

  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory of materials required for production through regular cycle counts.
  • Issue purchase orders to replenish materials required for production.
  • Verify and receive incoming materials in the inventory database.
  • Participate in quality inspections of incoming materials and follow up with suppliers in cases of non-conforming materials.
  • Gather and analyze performance indicators for suppliers and inventory accuracy.
  • Participate in sourcing of materials and coordinate with current vendors.
  • Work closely with purchasing receivers, purchasing coordinator, and forklift team to manage loading and unloading of trailers.
  • Ensure materials are put away into designated locations to support production.
  • Maintain system database for materials, inventory, and purchase orders.
  • Manage inventory and movement of material from off-site warehouse.
  • Coordinate materials for new projects.
  • Ensure system transactions are maintained accurately.
  • Manage Bill of Materials and initial orders.
  • Problem-solve inventory space constraints and find ways to ensure efficiency and access to materials when needed.
  • Roll up sleeves and assist as required with loading, unloading, or coordinating material needs.
  • Work as part of a larger SCM team, collaborating cohesively with other off-site plants.

Required qualifications for our Buyer:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business operations, logistics, mathematics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in inventory management, cycle counts, and driving material handling equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a purchasing role.
  • Previous work in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Working knowledge of RF Scanners and ERP systems.
  • Proficient in Excel and email communication.
  • Demonstrate a hands-on approach with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to support a fast-paced work environment.
  • Punctuality and good attendance are crucial.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors on occasion, regardless of weather, to support loading and unloading of materials.
  • Ability to work overtime (as required).
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Supply Chain certificate (an asset).
  • French second language (an asset but not a requirement).
